It has been known for a long time, music isn't only
for listening, but also for watching. I am among those
whom is more important the sound of the song. However, i don’t mind to watch a
good quality video. And if the video is for song i especially like, then it’s a
high score! Anyway, this is the list of 5 of my favorite music videos.
The White Stripes – The Hardest Button to Button
This video created by director Michel Gondry is one of
the strangest videos i have ever watched. This is not an animation, according to
Gondry, they used 32
identical Ludwig drum kits, as well as 32 amplifiers and 16 microphone stands.
Drum
kits and guitar amps seems to come alive as they clone and reclone to the
rhythm of the song that duo performs. Really a great music video!
Fatboy Slim – Weapon Of Choice
Christopher Walken, the most famous movie villian,
shows his incredible dancing skills .I have never percieved him like dancer,
because he doesn’t dance
very much in his roles. But in this video, he shows his moves on the table in the lobby, on the escalator
and flying all over L.A. hotel. The man deserves an Oscar for performance in
this music video. Outstanding!
Bjork – All
Is Full Of Love
There
is something weirdly beautifull and thrilling about this video. When i first saw this video,
the first thing that cross my mind was ‘Wow,maybe we (humans) could learn
something from all of this! If robots can express their feelings and all is
full of love, maybe there is still hope for mankind.’ We just have to share our
emotions with others. I know that this is an animation, but who cares! If
robots can kiss and caress each other, so we should do it, too.
Radiohead
– Just
Music
video meets film. To this day, this clip makes me uneasy. Why that man is lying
on the pavement? What he told so everyone else lay down? Why subtitles has cut
out at the crucial moment? Lots of questions, which leave me even more curious
and intrigued every time i watched it. Unique Thom Yorke and Radiohead.
The Prodigy –
Smack My Bitch Up
Enter the
Void meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – that’s how i feel about this clip. One
crazy story shown through first person perspective. There is everything in
this video – shocking scenes of drug usage, sex and violence, but hallo! - girl is doing all the damage. Surreal and very
powerful!!!

I remember clearly that day. It was novemer of 2003. I
was at my sister's house, helping her with some homework. Still high
school students, a lot of things we
were more important than school. In one moment, she asked me: ‘ You’re, like, love hip hop,
right?’ I nodded affirmatively.
‘Well, my friend burned me some cd, so I could give to you, if you wanna
listen?’ I said OK. After a while, she had to answer the
phone, leaving me in the room by
myself, so with nothing to do I put the cd with the title De Facto on it in the
player. And so it all began.
‘Kuća na
promaji’ was the song that was heard. I became speechless. ‘What is that?
Who is this guy?’ i wondered. Needless to say, further learning was over. I
grabbed cd and ran home. The next few weeks i listened to it from dust till
dawn. I find out that rapper is called Marchelo, a student of literature from
Paraćin, only three years older than me. All i was thinking, he was able to fit
in the form of poetry and express through rapping. I put him on pedestal as a
spokesman of our generations. On the album there were numerous anti-war rhymes,
songs of freedom and tolerance, songs of the criticism of the social, cultural
and spiritual situation in our country, distorted value system , as well as
songs about lost love, problems of youth, brotherly distance, celebration of hip
hop culture. This cd was very important for me, because in many ways helped me
to understand the world around me. Each rhyme has remained etched in my
absorbing brain, affecting to become the person i am now. With his narrative
style of rapping, Marchelo was able to give the point and meaning to
everything. Thanks to this intelligent young man and his songs, many generations may understand what real values to be fostered are. And, then, live concert. All this songs heard on stage by the same guy who wrote them. I was the happiest teenager back then. I
think no cd had such a influence on me to this day.
Of course, I continued to follow the work of Marchelo. Now, he is one of the most
respected rappers in Serbia. But this is not all. He has become a multi-media
personality. Besides release of three more music albums, he wrote three books
and published many columns in various magazines. He is a serious artist whose
opinion is very appreciative.
It was announced recently that Marchelo is heading on
tour with regard to the tenth
anniversary of the album De Facto! My brain enthusiastically accepted this
information. I was at many of his concerts,
i've been among the oldest in the audience for long time, and he rarely
performed songs from the first album. So when i found out about this, i
immediately went ten years in past. Well-known feeling permeated my whole body
and i screamed with pleasure. One after the other, Subotica, Beograd, and Novi
Sad in the end.
I intend to go to all three shows. Cause, 10 years
later, this album still remains among those with the greatest impact on my life.
It's like honor for many years of loyality and tracking his work. If so, i
certainly deserve that award.

Place:
Heineken Open'er Festival, Gdynia, Poland
06. July 2013.
Kings of Leon
are amongst three of four of my favorite music artists. And every year i expect
for them to come to my country, but such a thing never occured. So, when i find
out that my favorite band is coming to Poland to play i was overjoyed.
I decided
right away i am not going to miss that show and when my girlfriend agreed to
join me for this 3 day adventure, everything become even better. Backpacks –
checked; passports – checked; tent – checked; concert tickets – bought and we
were heading to Warsaw by train. Five-hour wait before
leaving to Gdynia didn’t disappointed us, because we used that time for sightseeing the Polish capital. After traveling through
the whole night, we have reached our last stop at 7 am. Gdynia, here we are!
Due to high temperature of 30 degrees, as soon as we set up
the tent, we immediately headed for the
nearby beach. We spent
the day swimming in the sea
and enjoying the
sun. After few hours,
we were wearing Kings Of Leon T-shirts and ready to join festival crowd.
As we
enter the really large festival area, we were delighted by its appearance.
Main stage plus six other stages, silent disco, theatre plays, fashion stage,
the Ferris Wheel and many more. Everything that one festivalgoer could wish was
there. Not to mention cold Heineken beer.
One hour before the
concert was already too crowded. People huddle, pushing to capture the best place. Incredible extrusion began 15
minutes before start. I couldn’t stand straight. We resisted as much as we
could. After few minutes, we end up in front of main stage, almost in first
row. Excitement inside me grew stronger. A really big scream from the audience
indicated that guys from band are coming on stage. The first beats of the song
‘Crawl’ made me realize that is
really happening. I am indeed at the concert of Kings of Leon. No pushing
bothered me anymore. The whole crowd jumped in the rhythm of next song ‘Four Kicks’. Then they played several
songs from their first two albums. It sounded amazing. I was singing and
screaming and jumping. The audience was thrilled, which Caleb also felt and
than said ‘this is the best crowd we've played
to on the entire tour’. ‘Pyro’ and 'Be Somebody' followed before Caleb
asked the crowd if they were ready for a new song. Then they played new song 'It Don't Matter' before a
crowd-pleasing 'The Bucket'. The time has come for song 'On Call', when Caleb said: "I just wanna play all night with
you people”. The band ended their main set with 'Knocked Up' and 'Use
Somebody'.
The crowd
demanded more, wanted more of Kings of Leon magic. After five minutes, they
were back for an encore. The band opened the closing section of their headline
show with 'Radioactive'. My favorite
song ‘Sex On Fire’ was next with huge
crowd sing-a-long. Kings of Leon then finished with 'Black Thumbnail'. The end of the show was followed by a thunderous ovations.
Soon the crowd
began to disperse as I stood motionless, eyes fixed to
the stage, not believing what I had just experienced. If there was any slice of
doubt that I will be disappointed by my favorite band’s live show, it was gone
like in no time as they offered me the best concert in my life.
As we were returning
home by train the next day, we summed up the
impressions. We have revived memories of the
previous night with the help of
photographs that i managed to take in all that confusion. Thought that prevailed for both of us was ‘we can’t wait the next
Kings of Leon European tour’!!!
